August 2026 issue

August, 2026. How time flies… June and July did not allow time or love for the newsletter, due entirely to a series of health and life events that are too annoying and tedious to discuss, I’ll spare you tales of woe and surgery.

This month is the promised cynical look at the current state of the Food and Drug Administration; this is a microcosm of the intersection of incompetence, arrogance, and the derision of expertise that is the hallmark of the current regime. The only saving grace for the agency is that none of the Trump or Kushner kids have gone into the supplements or drugs businesses. Yet.

So, how’s it going at the FDA?

It ain’t pretty. The agency is a shambles, so many key staff and skills dismissed by stupid egotists - many working groups are limping and morale is so low you would need an interferometer to measure it.

Instead of ranting myself, here’s a good look at the high level state of the agency as of May of 2026, when the Guardian took some time to explain some of what is going on:

““I think we’re going to start seeing a big pattern of this,” Rasmussen (Angela Rasmussen, co-editor of the journal and a virologist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada) said of top-level interference with research publication. “It just seems like this is the tip of the iceberg, and the FDA is just a complete mess.”

The FDA may serve as a testing ground for leaders to override experts and staff since most people don’t pay attention to the inner workings of the FDA, Rasmussen said.

“They see what they can get away with administratively, and see what people notice,” she said. While the FDA is “incredibly boring” to many members of the public, it’s also “really powerful from a regulatory perspective”, Rasmussen said. “So you could do something totally boring that nobody pays attention to and, boom, millions of people don’t have access to a drug or vaccine that they need.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/09/marty-makary-fda-food-drug-administration

So what has the FDA been doing administratively under the New Regime of Pedophile Protectors? It’s easier to think about this in tabular form, and also if you want to read many educated words on these topics I am including handy reference links for your inestimable delight.

QFD Summary

Leadership

Kyle Diamantas is acting commissioner

So Makary is out, why?

The damage continues…

Let’s start with a big picture. Who is out and why, who is in, and what are the top down directives from the raccoon eating nepobaby in charge of HHS.

Vapes

New fruity flavors for the kids are A-OKAY

Who wins: Big tobacco

Who loses: Your kids, my kids, all the kids

“Nutritional” Supplements

Another big industry win

Who wins: Supplements industry, becomes even less regulated.

Who loses: everyone who believes the health claims of herbal/vitamin/extract supplements.

Manufacturing Registrations

THIS is actually a good thing!

Who wins: Actual rationality that properly documents complex drug/API supply chains.

Who loses: Overpaid regulatory consultants.

Food “Safety” Announcements

How many MORE years is the safe foods regulation postponed? 2028?

Who wins: Big agriculture, big food, big grocery chains.

Who loses: Every American who stupidly is still addicted to eating food.

Actual Food Safety

Another take on the delay

You gotta love how they spin this at the New Model FDA

Remember, YOUR elected representative VOTED TO DELAY UNTIL 2028 regulations including the safety of bacon, eggs, lettuce, jalapeños, ground beef, and all the rest…

Who wins/loses: See above. Apparently the Orange Child Raper’s FDA is opposed to breakfast and lunch,  regardless of the push to have us live on animal proteins and fats.

Peptides

Enjoy your new power stack of peptides

Remember, this is a gift to the PE compounding pharmacies and the grifters online

Peptide safety? Who GAF?

Who wins: The compounding pharmacy industry, which used to be a local speciality biz and is now classic PE rollup (see also Hims/Hers)

Who loses: Every sucker who gets their medical advice from influencers or “AI”.

Compounding Pharmacies

Compounding is now a loophole you could slide a battleship through

Same as above, but expect also an endless barrage of GLP-1 advertisments to escalate along with the peptide lies.

PFAS

Uh, you gotta look at this one in combination w/ the EPA approving a whole basket of (no really) PFAS pesticides and refusing to pull any of the old ones off the market.

Who cares if your kids get cancer or endocrine disorders? The FDA doesn’t.

Also, all the sewage can be sprayed on the fields where the food grows, without treatment for PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and obviously now even to remove bacteria and parasites.

Who wins: Big agriculture, big food.

Who loses: Your kids, you, me, and everyone else. We are so fucked.

Gene Therapy

Maybe these tools can be treated AS tools, drug delivery style. The concern is WHAT the gene therapy does, not how you get it there.

This may actually be a sensible change in focus as long as nobody tells them that the best vaccines are now a type of gene therapy.

Related Shenanigans

Here is a case study on how the agency is not just captured, but fully commanded to serve specific donors to the current Regime of Intended Suffering (to prove ultimate power).

Who wins: Big tobacco.

Who loses: Everyone stupid enough to think those pouches are safe because influencers told them how great they are.

So, in summary, and feel free to disagree (just bring facts if you do), the FDA was once a partially captured tool of the industries it regulates; now it is an ideologically biased fully corrupted agency. Just another tool of an administration for whom demonstrations of power and impunity are just a small distraction from the overall corruption. Seriously, fuck Donald Trump and his crooked enablers in the House and Senate. But I digress.

This isn’t just a problem, it is a fucking tragedy. Just as in so many other spheres, the USA’s regulation of health and safety and food is now suspect. This has real consequences, some of which will take years to play out as citizens suffer from preventable (and forseen) harms, but the others will be surprisingly quick. Since the Current Regime is hellbent for leather to antagonize every historical ally, and throwing out all the old trade agreements, it won’t be long before those nations rationally point at agencies like the FDA as a rational to ban American food, drugs, devices, and supplements.

Here’s an example: What happens to your national industry when your food isn’t considered safe by your trade partners? Here’s an example! https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/8/12/why-have-several-nations-raised-red-flags-over-indian-farm-exports

When your drugs aren’t considered safe? Well, the FDA approval was the Global Gold Standard for sixty years, and the clown college has managed to eliminate much of that status and good will in a mere 16 months. The global pharma industry loves how much extra they get to make in the USA, but keeps their work product up to global standards. The generics and excipients are usually safe-ish due to the same forces. So don’t worry about the pharma companies, they’ll be fine. And as long as you, the patient, stick to products that have been through approval in EU you will be safe too. But the trade partners… hmmm, they will have plenty of reasons to raise the bar on whatever the USA still makes domestically.

Supplements and nutritionals, however, are going to go from occasionally dangerous grift to full on exploitation without concern for our safety.

Coming Soon: Don’t expect any regulatory agency outside the USA to blindly accept FDA approval as proof of fitness and safety for purpose. The party was nice while it lasted.
