Welcome to XZ.care for eczema relief

Time flies when you are having <waves hands> adventures in modern American business (so, what is the tariff, landed in mid-October, on billeted 5 cm round 17-4 precipitation hardened steel?) AND starting your own brand of personal care products.

What, wait? Welcome to XZ.care the eczema specific brand I am creating because everything else kinda bites.

I’ve had annoying to nasty eczema most of my life, and you would think that 25 years working in medical devices and drug delivery would have led me to a solution. It did not. Instead, in 2017 I first went into a consulting gig with a traditional natural Jamaican skin and hair company to do a QMS and set up profitable manufacturing. It was a nice break from the usual FDA vs CFDA validation methods, you see.

That company, Tropic Isle Living, was founded by a husband and wife team (Mr. & Mrs. Hines) in 1992 when they started importing old school from-the-bush (up in the mountains) Jamaican Black Castor oil. Before they could import it, they had to spend a few years doing ethnography to find the old heads with the memories of the skills, the Rastaman who knew how to roast it, proper water extraction tricks, and so forth. Twenty five years later they had the success problem! Scale this up more, keep the quality, hold down the prices - and deal with a market flooded with cheap knockoffs and counterfeits. You know, modern small business normal problems, getting from not quite five mil through all the barriers.

Six or so months into the gig, after spending a lot more time than I had projected on the floor, I noticed that my eczema was less severe, and my hands mostly healed. Mrs. Hines explained some traditional medicine, I read a bunch of modern studies, and realized that the castor oil was a good start for eczema relief. A lot of other stuff was needful, mind you, but between then and now, reading countless peer-review studies on ingredients AND hours listening to herbalists and walking around in the bush (wilderness) in Jamaica, and iterating. And iterating. And iterating.

In late 2024 I found a sweet combination that basically reset my eczema to blah. Friends had similar results. Parallel recipes for scalp and hair almost entirely resolved dandruff and scalp lesions and so forth. So since I’m not rich, I’ve been bootstrapping the first product myself: XZ Skin Relief. 90 ml in a handy dispensing bottle.

www.XZ.care is the website, I am just spooling up TikTok and Insta/Book are next.
